KL Rahul Joins Sachin Tendulkar’s Exclusive Club After India’s Victory Against Australia in Mohali
KL Rahul finished off the game with a magnificent six.
Team India, on Friday, September 22nd, clinched a victory over Australia by five wickets in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Punjab Cricket Association’s I S Bindra Stadium in Mohali, taking a 1–0 lead in the series.
Australia found themselves at the mercy of Team India’s pacers, who orchestrated their downfall with a first-innings total of 276 runs. India then rode on the half-centuries contributed by Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, and captain KL Rahul to successfully chase down the target in 48.5 overs.
This victory of team India has elevated them to the top of ICC ODI rankings, making them the top-ranked team globally. While they were already leading in the T20 and Test formats, the Men in Blue has now claimed the number one position across all formats in the ICC rankings.
In addition to this milestone, Captain KL Rahul has etched his name in history by leading India to their second-ever triumph against Australia in ODIs in Mohali. Sachin Tendulkar remains the first Indian captain to have accomplished this feat in ODI cricket.
Under Tendulkar’s leadership in 1999, India achieved a dramatic five-run victory against Australia in Mohali. However, since that historic match, India had been unable to secure another ODI victory against Australia at the same venue until Friday, September 22.
