New Zealand quick Kyle Jamieson has impressed former England skipper Nasser Hussain with his consistency in the ongoing World Test Championship final against India in Southampton.
New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson bagged a five-wicket haul in an exceptional display of swing bowling as India were bowled out for 217 on third day of the WTC final on Sunday.
Steaming in with a beautiful seam relentlessly, Jamieson got the ball to swing and was terrific as he picked up his fifth 5- wicket haul in just his 8th Test Match. Jamieson, who made his Test debut in February 2020, has bowled 96 maidens, picked up 44 wickets at an average of 14 which includes one 10 wicket haul.
The Kiwi pacer has also impressed the cricket fraternity with this brilliant bowling spell. Former England skipper Nasser Hussain also looked impressive with the rookie pacer and his impact and consistency.
“His (Kyle Jamieson) impact on International cricket and his consistency is huge. He has played eight test matches and has already got five fifers. To have such an immediate impact is huge,” Nasser Hussain was quoted as saying by the ICC during the ongoing WTC final.
The 26-year-old has played a key role in New Zealand’s reaching the WTC final. Hussain also said that Jamieson is a quick learner.
“Jamieson came here, and he learned to bowl fuller. The way he has changed his angles during the match, it seems he is a quick learner.
“To come to this massive match, the ultimate Test as a novice and putting such a performance. He is going to be a superstar in the future,” said Hussain.

New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson, during the virtual post-match press conference said that it was pleasing for him to dismiss India skipper Virat Kohli in the first innings of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Ageas Bowl.
“Well, not really. I think he’s a world-class batter, and those guys don’t tend to have too many chinks in their armour. Certainly pleasing to get him. Like I said before, he’s obviously a massive part of their lineup, and to get him early certainly set things up nicely for us,” said Jamieson while replying to an ANI query during a virtual press conference conducted at the end of the close of play on Day Three.
“Just was pleasing in terms of for myself being able to try to wobble the ball and try and keep him in check a little bit and to get that wicket was pleasing and just a great start for our game,” he added.
“We spoke around how we wanted to operate this morning and how important today was going to be in the context of the game, so to start that way was, yeah, obviously pretty pleasing,” he added.
