Galle Gladiators captain Shahid Afridi lashed out at Kandy Tuskers’ young Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq after he showed dissent towards Mohammad Amir
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who is currently leading Galle Gladiators in Lanka Premier League lashed out at Naveen-ul-Haq on Monday. Afridi scowled young Afghanistan pacer for his unsportsmanlike behaviour towards Mohammad Amir after Kandy Tuskers defeated Galle Gladiators by 25 runs.
Naveen ul Haq during the match was spotted using the choicest of words against Mohammad Amir constantly during the sixth match of the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) between the Galle Gladiators and the Kandy Tuskers. Munaf Patel and other players on the field were trying to stop the Afghani from further argument but the aggressive Afghani lad went on.
After the game, when both the teams were out in the ground for shaking hands, Galle Gladiators captain Shahid Afridi was smiling and shaking hands with the players until Naveen came up and former Pakistan captain asked him what he was saying to Amir. ‘Kya Hua [Translation: What happened],’ he asked. After this, the Afghani lad replied Afridi in a very disrespectful manner.
As long as the match is concerned, Kandy Tuskers defeated Galle Gladiators by 25 runs. This is GG’s third loss in as many games. Brendan Taylor’s half-century helped Tuskers putting up a mammoth target of 196 runs in 20 overs. He played a brilliant knock of 51 off 35. At the same time, Perera made 27 off 24 and Kamindu Mendis struck 28 off 16 in a 65-run stand with Taylor.
In response, Galle Gladiators failed to chase a target and fell 25 runs short against Tuskers. For Gladiators, Danushka Gunathilaka was the highest run-scorer as he smashed 82 runs off 53 balls.
