LSG vs MI: Hardik Pandya Becomes First Captain to Take Five-Wicket Haul in IPL History

Hardik Pandya became the first-ever captain in IPL history to take a five-wicket haul, achieving the feat against LSG in Lucknow.

Hardik Pandya created history in IPL 2025 during the match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants. The game was played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 5.

Pandya, who is the captain of Mumbai Indians, took five wickets in the match. This is the first time in his IPL career that he has taken a five-wicket haul. His final bowling figures were 5 wickets for 36 runs.

He made an early impact by getting Nicholas Pooran out in his very first over. Then, in his next over, he bowled out LSG captain Rishabh Pant. These two quick wickets gave Mumbai a strong start.

Later in the innings, Pandya dismissed Aiden Markram, who had scored 53 runs. In the final over, he picked up the wickets of David Miller and Akash Deep on back-to-back balls to complete his 5-wicket haul.

Even though Pandya bowled brilliantly, Mumbai Indians could not stop Lucknow from scoring big. LSG posted a total of 203 runs for 8 wickets. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram both scored half-centuries for LSG.

This performance by Pandya was not just special — it was historic. He became the first captain in IPL history to take five wickets in a single match. No other captain has done this before. The last time a captain took four or more wickets in an IPL match was in 2015.
