South African batter David Bedingham postponed his wedding by a day after Sunrisers Eastern Cape reached the SA20 2025 final at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. As per reports, Bedingham was supposed to marry Jenna Van Niekerk on February 8, Saturday, but he chose to delay the ceremony to be available for the final.
Bedingham and Van Niekerk have been together for a long time and often share pictures on Instagram. The decision shows his commitment to his team as they aim for their third consecutive SA20 title.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s Road to the Final
Sunrisers Eastern Cape had a tough start to the tournament but bounced back well. They made it to the final after beating Joburg Super Kings in the Eliminator and Paarl Royals in Qualifier 2. This is their third straight SA20 final, and they are aiming for a hat-trick of titles.
Bedingham, playing his first SA20 season, has struggled with the bat, managing just 236 runs in 11 innings, with a highest score of 48.
MI Cape Town Bat First in the Final
In the summit clash, MI Cape Town won the toss and opted to bat first. They got off to a solid start with Ryan Rickelton and Rassie van der Dussen adding 51 runs for the first wicket. However, Sunrisers Eastern Cape pulled things back with regular breakthroughs.
Connor Esterhuizen (39), George Linde (20), and Dewald Brevis (38) made useful contributions, but MI Cape Town couldn’t fully capitalize. They posted 181/8 in 20 overs. Marco Jansen, Richard Gleeson, and Liam Dawson took two wickets each, while Aiden Markram and Craig Overton picked up one apiece.
MI Cape Town reached the final after defeating Paarl Royals by 39 runs in Qualifier 1. Now, the stage is set for an exciting finish as they take on Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 2025 final.
