Mohammed Shami To Miss T20 World Cup 2024; Jay Shah Reveals Comeback Date

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah has revealed that India’s pace sensation Mohammed Shami is expected to return to international cricket during the Test series against Bangladesh in September 2024.
Following India’s loss in the 2023 ODI World Cup Final to Australia, Shami hasn’t made an appearance for the national team due to an Achilles Tendon injury that required surgery on February 26, 2024.
Shami had previously been confirmed to miss the entire IPL 2024 and, based on Jay Shah’s recent announcement, he will also be sidelined for the eagerly awaited 2024 T20 World Cup starting in June.

After his exceptional showing in the 2023 World Cup, where he topped the charts with 24 wickets, Shami has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy.
Jay Shah, in talks with PTI regarding recent injury setbacks within the Indian cricket team, conveyed that Shami is slated to regain fitness in time for India’s upcoming series against Bangladesh, comprising two Tests and three T20Is, starting in September.
