Mujeeb Ur Rahman Hospitalised After Testing Positive For COVID-19
Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who is currently in Australia for the upcoming Big Bash League has tested positive for Covid-19. He reported COVID-19 symptoms during the start of his mandatory two-week stint in hotel quarantine this week.
Afghanistan star Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who is currently in Australia for the upcoming Big Bash League has tested positive for Covid-19. The Big Bash League is scheduled to start from December 10. Mujeeb Ur Rehman is part of the Brisbane Heat Team.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman arrived in Australia last week to participate in the Big Bash League along with his other teammates. He reported COVID-19 symptoms during the start of his mandatory two-week stint in hotel quarantine this week.
According to the statement released by Brisbane Heat, the Afghani spinner will remain under the supervision of the Queensland Health Department until he is cleared to link with the team for the tournament. Cricket Australia and Queensland Cricket medical staff are monitoring the bowler during this period.
“We will work with the relevant authorities to ensure the integrity of the competition and well-being of the player are suitably addressed. He is a young man far from home and we will ensure he is looked after,” Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson said.
“The health and safety of our players, staff and the wider community is our top priority this season. Both Mujeeb and the Brisbane Heat have our full support and we will ensure all Queensland Government protocols continue to be followed as he recovers,” Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s Head of Big Bash Leagues, said.
The 19-year-old was a part of Kings XI Punjab in the just-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). He played just two games in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League as Kings XI Punjab preferred likes of Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin ahead of him. In the two games he played, he failed to pick a single wicket and conceded more than 10 runs per over.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman is playing his third season for Big Bash League (BBL). His economy was 6.08 per cent in 18 matches, which is considered very spectacular in T-Twenty League. Earlier this week, Nepal’s young spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has also been found to be Corona positive and is expected to be a part of the team after Christmas.
