New Zealand Announce T20I and Test Squads For West Indies Series; Kane Williamson, Trent Boult Rested For T20I Series

New Zealand, on Monday, announced the T20I as well as the Test Squad for the upcoming home series. Devon Conway has earned his maiden New Zealand call-up for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies. Along with Conway, Kyle Jamieson has also earned his maiden call-up for the T20 side.

The hosts have also rested their regular captain Kane Williamson and pace spearhead Trent Boult for the T20I series, starting on November 27. Both of them have returned from the UAE and are currently under quarantine. They had to stay in the bio-bubble during the entire tournament.

In the absence of experienced players in the team, senior pacer Tim Southee has been given the responsibility of captaincy.
However, Southee, Jamieson and Ross Taylor are only available for the first two T20Is.

After the first two T20Is, the trio will head to Hamilton to join an unchanged 13-man Test squad on November 30. With the third and final T20I at Bay Oval also on November 30, Mark Chapman, Doug Bracewell and Scott Kuggeleijn will join the T20 squad as cover for the three-Test players.

The first match of the T20 series between New Zealand and West Indies will be played in Auckland on November 27. The second match will be held in Mount Maunganui on November 29. The third and final match of the series will be played on the same ground on November 30. After the T20 series, a two-Test series will be played between the two teams.

The first Test will be played in Hamilton from December 3. The second match will take place in Wellington from December 11.
