New Zealand Appoints Luke Ronchi As Batting Coach
Former wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Ronchi has been appointed as the batting coach of the New Zealand cricket team replacing former Test batsman Peter Fulton who stepped down to become head coach of the first-class side Canterbury.

The Wellington Firebird batsman was born in New Zealand, went to Australia in childhood and has played international cricket for both New Zealand and Australia.
“I’m absolutely pumped,” Ronchi said of his appointment, which begins in two weeks ahead of New Zealand’s series against West Indies.
“I’ve really enjoyed being back with the team in recent seasons and it’s exciting to be given the opportunity full-time this summer.
“Getting the chance to continue working with our batsmen is a great honour and I’m looking forward to seeing how I can help improve their games and best prepare them to perform at the highest level.”
He played four ODIs and three T20 Internationals for Australia in 2008. He then returned to New Zealand. He played mostly limited-overs matches for New Zealand, including the 2015 World Cup. The same year he made his Test debut and played three more Tests in India in 2016. From 2013 till his retirement in 2017, he represented the Kiwi team in 81 ODIs, 30 T20s and four Tests.
Ronchi’s Cricket Career
Ronchi has scored 1397 runs in 68 innings of 85 matches. During this, he scored a century and four half-centuries. He scored 359 runs in 33 T20 matches. During this, he scored a half-century. In four Tests, he scored 319 runs with the help of two half-centuries.
Luke Ronchi retired from international cricket in 2017 but had been playing in various Twenty20 leagues around the world until earlier this year.
New Zealand’s home series against West Indies starts from November 27. Both teams will play the first three matches of the T20 series there. After this, a two-match series will be played from December 3.
