Nitish Rana Warns Team India About Gautam Gambhir’s Unique Coaching Style

Nitish Rana also opened up on his relation with Gautam Gambhir.

Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) just before IPL 2024 and led them to their third IPL title that season, with Shreyas Iyer as the captain.

His stocks and stature have seen a meteoric rise ever since. The BCCI is on the verge of announcing him as Team India’s head coach, succeeding Rahul Dravid after the T20 World Cup in 2024.

However, every now and then, thoughts arise about what makes Gautam Gambhir stand out from other coaches and players. Nitish Rana, a self-professed admirer of Gambhir, discussed this in a recent TRS podcast.

Nitish Rana, currently with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, revealed that Gautam Gambhir isn’t hesitant to face criticism and makes decisions based on what’s best for the team, rather than worrying about public opinion.

Here’s what Nitish Rana said:

“He [Gautam Gambhir] has his own way of working. He has a unique way of living his life. He is not scared of being judged, which is his biggest strength. He is someone who is very honest.”

“He has taught me that you’re only answerable to the people in the dressing room and not to the people outside the dressing room which includes people on social media, media, journalists, interviewers,” Rana added.

According to reports, although BCCI is expected to announce him as the head coach of Team India soon, he will officially assume the role during the Sri Lanka tour, with VVS Laxman temporarily leading the team for the Zimbabwe tour.
