No Virat Kohli As BCCI Announce Squad For Zimbabwe ODIs, Shikhar Dhawan Named Captain

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Saturday announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. 

Shikhar Dhawan has been named the captain of the team as KL Rahul, who was expected to return to the side, continues to remain on the sidelines after the BCCI medical team advised him to rest for one more week.

Regular players like Rohit Sharma, senior batter Virat Kohli, wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, and pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah are not going to be part of this series.

Meanwhile, India pacer Deepak Chahar, who was out of action for a quite long time due to injury has returned to the team. Washington Sundar and Rahul Tripaathi have also been called up for the series.

The three-match ODI series of the India tour of Zimbabwe 2022 will kick off on August 18 and the final match of the series will be played on August 22. All the games of the series will be played at the same venue, Harare Sports Club, and the series will be part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League.

Notably, it will be India’s first tour of Zimbabwe since 2016 with the previous tour ending with a 3-0 whitewash in the ODI series.
