KL Rahul became the second fastest Indian batter to reach 2500 ODI runs. He achieved this milestone while batting against England in a World Cup clash at BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Shikhar Dhawan is the fastest Indian to achieve this landmark.
Notably, KL Rahul found himself at the crease early as India lost three quick wickets in the form of Indian openers Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer. Rahul then joined hands with Indian captain Rohit Sharma to steady the innings.
Rohit and KL Rahul put together a 91-run partnership for the fourth wicket before the latter was dismissed by David Willey. Rahul scored 39 runs from 58 balls with the help of three boundaries.
Once Rahul was dismissed, Rohit’s batting pace slowed down, and he was later dismissed by Adil Rashid after scoring 87 runs from 101 balls, including 10 boundaries and three sixes.
