Matt Henry ruled out of the World Cup 2023 due to hamstring injury.
In an unfortunate turn of events, New Zealand’s Matt Henry has been ruled out of the 2023 World Cup in India due to a torn hamstring. Kyle Jamieson has been called in as his replacement for the tournament.
The Kiwi pacer sustained this injury during New Zealand’s match against South Africa earlier this week and an MRI revealed that he had a grade two lower tear, which will take at least two to four weeks to heal.
“Matt Henry has been ruled out of the World Cup with a torn right hamstring and has been replaced in the squad by Kyle Jamieson. An MRI scan confirmed he has a grade two lower tear which will require at least 2 to 4 weeks to recover from,” the Blackcaps said in a statement.
Having claimed 14 wickets from seven games at an average of 28.63 and an economy rate of 5.79, Henry proved to be the most successful fast bowler for New Zealand in the tournament and his absence will surely be felt in the remaining tournament.
