PSL 2024: ‘Shaheen Afridi’s Captaincy and Bowling Exposed Now’ – Ex-Pakistan Captain

Lahore Qalandars have lost all the three matches they played so far in PSL 2024.

Former Pakistan captain Azhar Ali believes that the captaincy and the bowling of Shaheen Shah Afridi have been exposed in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024. This statement came after Lahore Qalandars lost three consecutive matches in the tournament so far.

Notably, the reigning champions, Lahore Qalandars, have suffered defeats in all three matches they played while defending a target. They lost their first two games against Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators by eight and five wickets, respectively. Their latest defeat came against Multan Sultans, also by five wickets.

Notably, Afghanistan star spinner Rashid Khan, who was the backbone of Lahore Qalandars’ bowling last season, has been ruled out for the entire PSL 2024 season due to a back injury. Here’s what Azhal Ali said on the show ‘The Pavilion’ while assessing the performance of Lahore Qalandars:

“I think Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy and Lahore’s bowling has been exposed. The absence of Rashid Khan is clearly hurting Lahore since they no longer have the comfort he provided to the other bowlers in the middle overs.”

“When new batter Iftikhar came out to bat, they bowled leg-side to him even when fine leg was up. On the other hand, when they bowled on off-stump, the third man was up in the circle. This shows that there was no coordination between the bowler and captain.”

Lahore Qalandars will next face Karachi Kings on Saturday, February 24 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
