“Question is concerned…’ – KL Rahul Silences ‘Fitness’ Critics with Bold Statement
KL Rahul scored 52 runs off 38 balls in the second ODI against Australia
KL Rahul, named as the captain for the first two ODIs against Australia, recently opened up on his return following a lengthy injury break and shared insights into his role as the team leader.
Here’s what KL Rahul told Jio Cinema:
“The team management has shown a lot of faith in me in the last two years. They keep giving me more responsibilities which shows that they believe and trust in my abilities. It gives me a lot of confidence and I also enjoy taking responsibility. It makes life and playing cricket a lot more fun.”
Rahul faced scepticism regarding his ability to perform at his peak in the Asia Cup, given his prolonged break from professional cricket. However, he proved his critics wrong by excelling both with the bat and as a wicket-keeper in the continental tournament.
“Everyone has seen me playing in the Asia Cup, I played all the games in the Super Fours. I kept behind the wickets, batted and scored runs as well, so I think that question is answered for everyone who were concerned about my fitness. Hopefully, I’ll carry on in the same way with a big two months coming up with the World Cup and the Australia series.”
Upon his comeback, Rahul marked his presence with a century against Pakistan, followed by an unbeaten 58 off 63 balls against Australia in the first ODI, and another half-century in the second ODI.
