Ritika Sajdeh Gives Mouth-Shutting Reply to Sunil Gavaskar’s Suggestion to Remove Rohit Sharma as Test Captain in BGT Due to Second Child’s Birth

Sunil Gavaskar suggested that if Rohit Sharma is unavailable for the first few matches, the team should appoint a new captain for the entire series.

With India’s recent 0-3 series loss to New Zealand at home, the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia is crucial for the team. India needs to secure victory in at least four of the five Tests to qualify for the World Test Championship final without relying on other teams. Amid these high stakes, reports emerged that captain Rohit Sharma might miss the first Test due to personal reasons.

Responding to this speculation, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar suggested that if Rohit is unavailable for the first few matches, the team should appoint a new captain for the entire series. Gavaskar emphasized the importance of stability and team unity, especially given the recent series loss. He recommended that if Rohit were to miss two or more Tests, the Indian selection committee should consider making the vice-captain the captain for the entire series.

“The captain has to unite the team,” Gavaskar said, adding that India’s recent defeat highlighted the need for strong leadership.

Aaron Finch and Ritika Sajdeh Defend Rohit’s Decision

However, former Australian captain Aaron Finch disagreed with Gavaskar’s perspective. Finch argued that personal matters, like the birth of a child, are special moments that deserve respect and time.

“If you need to stay at home because your wife is having a baby… that’s such a beautiful moment… take all the time you need,” Finch told ESPNcricinfo, emphasizing that Rohit’s role as a father should take priority in such situations.

Rohit’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, appreciated Finch’s supportive stance. She took to Instagram to react to his comments, responding with a ‘salute’ emoji and tagging Finch in a post that highlighted both Gavaskar’s and Finch’s remarks.
