Rohit Sharma To Be Sacked As India’s T20I Captain – Report
Hardik Pandya is being seen as the frontrunner to replace Rohit Sharma as T20I captain.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Friday, sacked the entire senior national selection committee led by Chetan Sharma after the Indian cricket team failed to reach the final of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Now, in another shocking revelation, a news report in news agency PTI has reported that BCCI is looking for a split captaincy, with Hardik Pandya likely to take over the reins in the shortest format of the game.
Notably, the BCCI was against ‘split captaincy’ at the beginning of the year, when Virat Kohli wanted to continue leading the team in the One Day Internationals and Tests, having given up captaincy in T20Is only.
Rohit, who took over the charge of team India across all three formats earlier this year is expected to face the same fate as Virat Kohli. The Mumbai batter may continue leading the team in ODI and Test cricket but Hardik Pandya is expected to take over the captaincy duties in T20Is.
The Baroda all-rounder is having a purple patch in his career, especially in the paced format ever since he made a comeback after a long injury layoff.
A few eyebrows were raised when he was appointed as the captain of the new franchise Gujarat Titans but he shut down all the critics by leading the team to the title on the very first attempt.
The new selection committee will have the humongous task of appointing captains for different formats. As of now, Hardik Pandya is being seen as the frontrunner to replace Rohit Sharma as T20I captain, especially after India’s semi-final exit at T20 World Cup, 2022.
