Sachin Tendulkar Reveals What He Said to Virat Kohli After Getting Out in 2011 World Cup Final

Sachin Tendulkar shared details of his conversation with Virat Kohli in the 2011 World Cup final after he was dismissed, in his recent tweet.

The legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar revealed what he said to Virat Kohli during the high-stakes chase in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium as he was doing a Twitter Q&A session with fans on Friday, April 21.

The 275 run chase of India got off to a shaky start at the Wankhede Stadium, with the loss of a couple of early wickets. Virender Sehwag was dismissed for a duck in the first over by Lasith Malinga, who struck again in the 7th over to send Sachin Tendulkar back to the pavilion for just 18.

The entire stadium fell silent following his dismissal. As he made his way back to the pavilion, Tendulkar paused to offer some words of advice to Virat Kohli, who was due to bat at number four that day. Recently, the legendary batter shared the advice he had given to the Delhi batter.

During the session, a fan shared the photograph and asked Sachin what he was telling to Virat Kohli, to which the former Indian cricketer replied:

“Ab bhi ball thoda swing ho raha hai! (The ball is still swinging)”

The 2011 ODI World Cup marked a momentous occasion for India, as they lifted the trophy after a gap of 28 years. Dhoni’s unbeaten 91-run knock in the final was a testament to his exceptional leadership and composure under pressure. Equally impactful was Gambhir’s score of 97, which cemented their victory and secured their place in the history books.

Sachin Tendulkar was the backbone of India’s batting lineup in the 2011 World Cup, finishing as the team’s top run-scorer with 482 runs from 9 games. He was second only to Tillakaratne Dilshan in the overall tournament tally. While he played some crucial innings in the quarter-final and semi-final matches, he couldn’t carry his form into the final and was dismissed for just 18 runs.
