Sarfaraz Ahmed shared a heartwarming story behind MS Dhoni's photo with his son.

As the eagerly awaited Champions Trophy 2025 approaches, the rivalry between India and Pakistan is once again at the forefront, with fans eagerly anticipating their high-octane clash on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

While the on-field action between the two Asian giants is always intense, off-field moments often provide a glimpse into the camaraderie that transcends borders, with one such memorable instance being shared by former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

In an interview, Sarfaraz recalled an unforgettable moment from the 2017 Champions Trophy, when Pakistan defeated India in the final. He spoke about an interaction with Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni, which took place before the final match. Sarfaraz, who was spending time with his family and his then-three-month-old son, Abdullah, had the chance to meet Dhoni.

“The moment happened when his family friends were visiting, and Dhoni happened to come downstairs. He thought it would be a perfect opportunity to capture the moment with his three-month-old son,” Sarfaraz reminisced.

Sarfaraz also recalled a meaningful conversation with Dhoni about wicketkeeping, cricket, and balancing roles as a keeper, batsman, and captain. He revealed that Dhoni’s advice was not only valuable but also incredibly generous.

“The tips Dhoni shared with me were immensely helpful. He was very humble and generous in offering his advice,” said Sarfaraz, reflecting on how Dhoni’s words had a profound impact on his approach to cricket.

In addition to the personal story, Sarfaraz spoke about the relationship between Indian and Pakistani cricketers, which despite the lack of bilateral series, remains strong and filled with respect. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the absence of regular interactions but highlighted the camaraderie that still exists during ICC tournaments.

“While the lack of bilateral series has affected interactions to some extent, the matches that do take place, especially back-to-back encounters, have led to improved relations,” Sarfaraz said, praising the mutual respect among players from both nations.

He mentioned how players like Shoaib Malik, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni often share good moments off the field, chatting and enjoying each other’s company after the matches.
