Shakib Al Hasan All Set to Make International Comeback, Named in Bangladesh Squad for West Indies ODIs

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan returns after a year of ban from the international cricket, as Bangladesh announced an 18-men squad for West Indies series at home.

A piece of good news is coming for Shakib Al Hasan and his fans, the star all-rounder, who was banned from international cricket for a year for failing to report corrupt approaches, has been named in Bangladesh’s 18-man squad for the 3-match ODI series versus West Indies.

Bangladesh also called-up three uncapped players Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, and Mahedi Hasan in the squad captained by Tamim Iqbal for their upcoming home series against Windies.

“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announces the squad for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies. Off-spinner Mahadi Hasan and pace bowlers Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam are the uncapped players in the squad,” the BCB said in an official statement.

Besides Shakib, seamers Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain also made a return to the Bangladesh squad.

“Naturally we are delighted to have Shakib Al Hasan back in the squad as we all know he is a game changer and we are expecting him to return to his best very soon,” Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.

“We have picked Rubel Hossain as he bowled well in the domestic tournament while Taskin was injured earlier but now as he is fit and the way he is bowling, we felt that he deserves a chance.”

The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur will hold the first two matches on January 20 and 22 while the third and final ODI will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on January 25.
