Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed Dropped As Pakistan Announces Squad For T20 World Cup

Chief Selector Muhammad Waseem announced Pakistan's squad for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup.

Pakistan, on Monday announced squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup, which is scheduled to take place from October 17. Chief Selector Muhammad Waseem announced a 15-man squad, with three players named as reserves.

Notably, the same team will play the home series against New Zealand and England in the coming weeks. However, there are some surprising exclusions from the squad as veteran players like Shoaib Malik and Sarfaraz Ahmed failed to make it to the squad as youngsters have been given a chance.

Babar Azam will lead the team in the mega event. Pakistan team will play its first match against India in the T20 World Cup, scheduled for October 24. Apart from India, Pakistan will play New Zealand, Afghanistan and the other qualifying team in the group stages of the World Cup.

International Cricket Council (ICC) has provided a deadline of September 10 for all countries to announce their teams for the mega event that is to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on the other hand is expected to announce a 15-player Indian Cricket Team for the T20 World Cup on September 7 or 6 after the conclusion of 4th Test match between India and England.
