Shoaib Malik’s Contract Terminated by Fortune Barishal Over Fixing Allegations in BPL 2024

Shoaib Malik will no longer participate in BPL 2024.

The owner of Fortune Barishal has terminated the contract of Shoaib Malik due to suspicions of fixing. This means that the Pakistan all-rounder will not participate in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Earlier, there were reports that Shoaib Malik returned to Dubai for personal reasons, but it’s now apparent that the franchise’s decision to terminate his contract prompted their return during the middle of the tournament.

Malik, who recently made headlines for tying the knot with Pakistani actor Sana Javed after his ‘unilateral’ divorce from former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, bowled three no-balls in one over against Khulna Tigers, which grew the suspicion of fixing among the fans.

Malik had a clean record with just one no-ball for overstepping until the fifth ball. The last ball, though, came after two consecutive no-balls for crossing the crease.

Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal was stunned, and a disappointed Malik stared at the crease. Ultimately, Malik conceded 18 runs in the over and wasn’t given another chance to bowl.

Across three games in the tournament, Malik, representing Fortune Barishal, struggled to make a significant contribution, be it with the bat or the ball.
