Sonali Bendre Breaks Silence on Shoaib Akhtar’s Marriage Proposal Threat
There were rumours that Shoaib Akhtar threatened Sonali Bendre to kidnap her if she refused his marriage proposal.
There have been longstanding rumours that former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar allegedly threatened to ‘kidnap’ Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre if she rejected his marriage proposal. In a recent podcast interview, Bendre has finally responded to these claims.
While promoting her new season of “The Broken News,” Bendre was questioned by host Shubhankar Mishra about Shoaib’s supposed remark. The host also informed her of Akhtar’s past admission of having a major crush on her.
Expressing surprise, Bendre stated, “Did he really say that? Though, I don’t know how true this is. Fake news existed even then!” When the host mentioned the specific kidnapping claim, Bendre remained unsure, replying, “Thank God for that, my career is because of the audience loving me, even though I’m not sure if he really said it.”
Interestingly, Shoaib Akhtar himself dismissed these rumours back in 2019. In a video, he declared his intention to end the speculation “once and for all.”
Shoaib Akhtar clarified:
“I’ve never met Sonali Bendre. She is a stunning woman, and I have seen her in films, but I haven’t been a fan [romantically]. Yes, I became a fan of hers personally after she defeated cancer; that’s when I realised how brave she was. To be honest we had nothing to do with each other.”
