“Still Happy That We Lost Just by 50 Runs” – Ruturaj Gaikwad After Embarrassing Loss to RCB in IPL 2025
Chennai Super Kings suffered a 50-run defeat against RCB, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad blamed poor fielding for the loss.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a heavy defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. RCB completely dominated the match, winning by 50 runs. However, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad did not consider it a big loss. His statement at the post-match ceremony surprised many.
CSK’s Struggle in the Run Chase
Chennai Super Kings had a big target of 197 runs to chase. However, their batting lineup could not perform well. They managed to score only 146 for 8 in 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had played well in the last match against Mumbai Indians, got out without scoring a single run.
Despite the big defeat, Gaikwad said, “Still happy that we lost by 50 runs, which is not a big margin.” His words shocked many fans, as a 50-run loss is quite huge in T20 cricket.
Missed Chances in the Field
CSK’s poor fielding made things worse. The team dropped several catches, which helped RCB score more runs. RCB captain Rajat Patidar was given many chances as CSK fielders failed to grab his catches. He took full advantage and scored 51 runs off 32 balls. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
Gaikwad admitted that bad fielding cost them the game. He said, “170 would have been a par score, but bad fielding made the difference. You chase 170 differently, but when the target is 20 runs more, it becomes tough.”
He also mentioned that the pitch conditions changed in the second innings, making batting more difficult. “The pitch became slow and sticky, which made it harder to bat,” he explained.
Gaikwad Urges Team to Improve
The CSK captain was disappointed with his team’s fielding efforts. He made it clear that they must improve. “We cannot afford to drop catches in crucial moments,” he stated.
CSK will now have to work on their mistakes and come back stronger in the next matches. Good fielding and better batting performances will be needed if they want to bounce back in IPL 2025.
