ENG vs PAK, T20 World Cup 2022 - Highlights: Harry Brook unbeaten 45 off 24 led England to outclass Pakistan in the warm-up match.
England outplayed Pakistan by six wickets in their final warm-up match ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia on Monday, October 17.
In a rain-curtailed fixture, which was reduced to 19 overs a side in Brisbane, Pakistan charted 160 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, England gunned down the target in just 14.4 overs.
In the pursuit of 161 runs, England got off to a disastrous start, losing both of their openers for a single-digit score. However, after that, it was smooth sailing for the Three Lions with Ben Stokes, the returnee Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, and Sam Curran firing on all cylinders.
While Stokes and Livingstone scored 36 and 28 runs respectively, Brook and Curran seemed to be in a real hurry to finish the match as they clobbered unbeaten 45 runs (off just 24 balls) and 33 runs (off just 14 balls) to record a thumping six wickets victory.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim Jr picked two wickets while Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan got one each. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who made a return after a long injury layoff also looked in a good rhythm, bowling two overs while conceding just seven runs.
In the absence of their star openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood (39 off 22) and Haider Ali (18 off 16) opened the innings for Pakistan and conceded them a magnificent start, putting up a 49-run partnership for the opening wicket.
The likes of Shadab Khan (14 off 14), Iftikhar Ahmed (22 off 18), Asif Ali (14 off 12), and Mohammad Wasim Jr (26 off 16) also played handy knocks to propel Pakistan to a fighting total of 160 runs.
For England, David Willey starred with the ball, as he picked up two wickets in his two overs spell while giving away just 22 runs. The likes of Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, and Ben Stokes also got a wicket apiece.
