Team India Star in Controversy: Wife Alleges Beating, Extramarital Affairs, and Dowry Pressure
Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has been accused by his wife of domestic violence, dowry harassment, and having extramarital affairs.
Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has landed in trouble after his wife, Garima Mishra, accused him and his family of domestic violence and dowry harassment. The matter came to light after Garima met the police commissioner and demanded justice. An official investigation has now been ordered.
Garima alleged that her in-laws demanded a Honda City car and ₹10 lakh in dowry. She also claimed that Amit Mishra had multiple affairs and was physically violent with her. According to her statement, in December last year, when she questioned him about his alleged extramarital affairs, he threw her out of their house. Since then, she has been living at her parental home.
Amit Mishra, who is not actively playing cricket at the moment, is currently working at a Reserve Bank branch in Kanpur. He married Garima on April 26, 2021. The relationship, however, has taken an ugly turn with serious accusations now being made public.
Garima further alleged that the cricketer had assaulted her several times. She said the mental and physical harassment became unbearable. Her statement also included that Amit’s family tortured her repeatedly for dowry.
In his defense, Amit Mishra called all the allegations false and baseless. He stated that it was his wife who had previously created a scene outside a bank office and that the current charges are completely one-sided.
Mishra has had a long cricketing career. He made his ODI debut for India in 2003, followed by Test cricket in 2008 and T20 Internationals in 2010. He played 22 Tests and took 76 wickets, 36 ODIs with 64 wickets, and 10 T20s where he took 16 wickets. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he has featured in 162 matches and claimed 174 wickets, making him one of the top performers in the tournament’s history.
With serious allegations against a well-known cricketer, this case has now caught public attention. The police are currently investigating the matter, and further details are awaited.
