5. Yusuf Pathan Declared Out For Obstructing The Field In IPL 2013
In IPL 2013, Yusuf Pathan was declared out for obstructing the field. The incident occurred during a match between Pune Warriors India and Kolkata Knight Riders. Yusuf Pathan was batting at 72 off 44 and in the 18th over of Wayne Parnell, Pathan hit the ball and tried to steal a single.
Unfortunately, the ball only reached the middle of the pitch. Parnell tried to collect the ball but Pathan pushed the ball from his legs while running to the non-striker’s end. Pathan pleaded to be innocent but opposition players appealed to the umpires for obstructing the field. Later, Yusuf Pathan was given out for obstructing the field. This incident gave rise to many debates and arguments in 2013.
4. David Warner’s Dismissal Against RCB In IPL 2020
In the previous season of the cash-rich league, David Warner’s dismissal against RCB became a talk of town. The incident took place in the Eliminator match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and SunRisers Hyderabad. SRH were chasing 132 runs and Warner was on the strike and Mohammad Siraj’s one delivery passed through his bat and legs. Wicketkeeper AB de Villiers caught the ball behind the wickets and appealed for a dismissal.
However, the umpire was unfazed as he felt that the ball brushed only the thigh pad of Warner and not the gloves. The on-field umpire called not out decision. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore took a DRS over the decision. While going through the replays, the third umpire did not find any conclusive evidence of the ball hitting the bat or gloves, however, he overturned the on-field umpire’s decision and declared David Warner as out. This sparked a huge controversy as Warner was extremely upset while heading to the pavilion but RCB got a needed break-through.
3. MS Dhoni’s Run Out In IPL 2019 Final
The Indian Premier League 2019 final took a decisive turn after CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was adjudged run out by third umpire Nigel Llong in what could be termed a very close call by the English umpire.
On the fourth delivery of the 13th over bowled by Hardik Pandya, Shane Watson hit one on the leg side and completed a single. The throw from mid-wicket at the bowler’s end went deep into the field as no one was backing up and Dhoni decided to run on the overthrow.
Ishan Kishan knocked the stumps with a direct hit and Dhoni’s bat was judged to be on the line. The umpire took his time to make the decision as the camera angles created confusion as to whether a small part of Dhoni’s bat was over the crease or not. Eventually he decided not to give the advantage to the batsman and deemed the video footage conclusive enough to give Dhoni out. After MS Dhoni was given out, there was a lot of controversy over the decision.
2. Amit Mishra Declared Out For Obstructing The Field In IPL 2019
Delhi Capitals were up against SunRisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator game of the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Visakhapatnam and Amit Mishra was given out for obstructing the field.

Sunrisers Hyderabad appealed to the umpire for Amit Mishra obstructing the field. When the third umpire took a look at replays, he found Amit Mishra guilty of obstructing the field and gave him out.
1. Ravichandran Ashwin Mankads Jos Buttler In IPL 2019
No doubt, this is by far the most controversial dismissal in the Indian Premier League. Ravichandran Ashwin mankaded Jos Buttler in IPL 2019.
Jos Buttler was on his way to a great century, but Ravichandran Ashwin noticed that Buttler was backing up too far at the non-striker’s end. Ashwin, while delivering the sixth ball of the 13th over of the match, acted as if he was delivering a ball and then took the bails off once Buttler had left the crease during Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab’s IPL 2019 opener in Jaipur.
The umpires declared him out and Buttler was livid with Ashwin as he walked off the field. The wicketkeeper-batsman was dismissed for 69 runs from 43 balls. It was a crucial moment in the match as Buttler was taking the match away from Punjab. While some criticized Ashwin for not showing sportsmanship, others backed his action as it is a legal way of dismissing a non-striker in cricket.
