Travis Head Threats Rohit Sharma & Co. Ahead of T20 World Cup 2024

Travis Head believes India will be eager to take revenge for their last two final losses.

Travis Head, the in-form Australian batter, who also emerged as the hero in the finals of the last two ICC events – WTC 2023 and ODI WC 2023 – with match-winning centuries, believes India will be hungry for revenge.

“It would be a box-office clash,” Head told Times of India, acknowledging the simmering tension between the two sides after their recent final encounters. Head’s twin centuries against India in those finals played a huge role in Australia’s win.

Travis Head smashed a mammoth 163 in the WTC final, snatching victory from flying India’s grasp. He followed it up with a crucial 137* in the ODI WC final chase at the Narendra Modi Stadium, guiding Australia to their sixth World Cup title.

“It would be nice. It would be nice to be in the final. I think everyone in India would love that, especially considering what’s happened in the last two finals. So, I’m sure India wants some revenge at some point. Let’s hope that we’re in it, and let’s hope you’re in it, and we’ll see what happens,” Head said.

India’s Chances are High: Travis Head

While talking about India’s hunger for revenge, Travis Head also recognized their star-studded batting line-up featuring stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He also highlighted the bowling prowess of Jasprit Bumrah, who has been in top form in the IPL.

“India is in good hands. I think you could probably name four or five teams that are going to be in the mix. Playing an attacking brand of cricket is crucial for them. With Rohit and Virat, and their exceptional bowling led by star bowler Bumrah, who has also been outstanding in the IPL, their chances are high. Their chances are probably similar to the three or four other teams that are in contention,” he added.

Australia, on the other hand, will be looking to reclaim their T20 World Cup dominance after their disappointing group-stage exit in 2022. The team is filled with stars like David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins and the player in red-hot form, Travis Head himself.
