‘Tukka Lag Gya’ – Robin Uthappa Says MS Dhoni Got Lucky With Run-Out Against LSG in IPL 2025 Match
Robin Uthappa called MS Dhoni’s stunning run-out against LSG a ‘tukka’, saying even he has worn the gloves.

MS Dhoni delivered a classic moment behind the stumps during Chennai Super Kings’ match against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. In the 14th over of the first innings, Dhoni pulled off a stunning run-out of Abdul Samad with an underarm flick to the non-striker’s end, drawing loud cheers from the crowd at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
The moment instantly went viral, with fans and commentators praising Dhoni’s lightning-fast reflexes. However, former India wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa had a different take. Speaking on Star Sports, Uthappa called the dismissal a “tukka”, or a fluke. “I am someone who has worn gloves, I know this was a ‘tukka’,” he said, sparking debate online.
While Uthappa’s comments stirred mixed reactions, Dhoni had plenty to celebrate. The match saw him become the first player in IPL history to complete 200 dismissals as a wicketkeeper. He achieved the feat during the final over by catching Rishabh Pant, which helped CSK restrict LSG to 166/7 in 20 overs.
In total, Dhoni now has 201 dismissals in the IPL, including 155 catches and 46 stumpings. He leads the charts, with Dinesh Karthik in second place with 182 dismissals, and AB de Villiers in third with 126.
Apart from the milestone, Dhoni also executed a sharp stumping to dismiss Ayush Badoni earlier in the match. Jadeja beat the batter with a clever delivery, and Dhoni removed the bails in a flash — another example of his trademark skill behind the stumps.
Earlier in the match, Dhoni had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Lucknow’s innings didn’t see many big partnerships apart from a 50-run stand between Mitchell Marsh and Pant. Pant top-scored with 63 off 49 balls, while Abdul Samad added a quick 20 from 11 deliveries. Jadeja and Pathirana were the pick of the bowlers for CSK, taking two wickets each.
Even as fans continue to discuss whether Dhoni’s run-out was a fluke or a moment of brilliance, one thing remains clear — at 43, Dhoni is still pulling off magic behind the stumps that only he can.
