Twitter Hails Kyle Mayers as West Indies Defeated Bangladesh and Record Highest 4th Innings Chase in Asia.
West Indies 28 year old Debutant Kyle Mayers maiden double century powered West Indies to an impressive three-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Sunday.
Mayers hit an unbeaten 210 from 310 balls – with 20 fours and seven sixes – to guide his side to 395-7 with just nine balls left on the final day.
Mayers and Bonner top-scored for the visitors in the three-wicket win over Mominul Haque’s Bangladesh in the Chattogram Test match. Riding on the debutant’s double-ton, the visitors have taken a healthy lead in the two-match Test series.
Playing just his 33rd first-class game and his first Test, Mayers became just the fifth man in history to score a double hundred on Test debut and the first to do so in the fourth innings, shattering the previous record fourth-innings score of 112, which was set in 1959.

In the post-match presentation, Mayers said he always believed in his ability.
“I’m always positive and believed in my ability, and believed that we could get there. We never give up, and keep fighting. The skipper and the coach tell us to keep fighting. Shannon put in a great effort on that wicket and that inspired all of us to do well,” he said.
“It’s a great feeling to be playing Test cricket, and then going on to score 100, 200 and then to win the match, it’s a really special feeling. I’d love to thank the coach, captain, teammates, coaches and family back home as well. I’m really grateful to everyone. A guy making his debut and scoring a double will definitely inspire youngsters,” he added.
