It is USA’s first ever series win against a full members team.
The USA cricket team achieved a historic feat by defeating Bangladesh by six runs in the second T20I of the three-match series. This victory takes an unassailable 2-0 lead for the USA, clinching the series win.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first. The USA batters put up a fighting total of 144 runs on the board, losing six wickets in their 20 overs.
Openers Stephen Taylor and captain Monak Patel provided a solid foundation with contributions of 31 and 42 runs respectively. Aaron Jones provided a late flourish with a quickfire 35 runs off just 34 balls.
Bangladesh’s bowling attack shared the spoils with Mohammad Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Rishad Hossain bagging two wickets each.
Chasing a modest target, Bangladesh fell short by six runs, mustering only 138 runs before being bowled out. Ali Khan was the wrecker-in-chief for the USA, picking up three crucial wickets in his economical spell of 3.3 overs.
Saurabh Netravalkar and Shadley van Schalkwyk chipped in with two wickets apiece, while Jasdeep Singh and Corey Anderson also got their names on the wickets list.
This historic series win marks a significant moment for USA cricket. With the third and final T20I becoming a dead rubber, the USA will be looking to complete a clean sweep and whitewash the Bangladesh team.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be desperate to salvage some pride and avoid an embarrassing series defeat.
