The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, has finally opened up after losing the World Cup 2023 against Australia last month. He stated that it was very tough to digest because winning the World Cup was the ultimate prize for India.
The Men in Blue emerged undefeated in the World Cup 2023 group stage, clinching victory in all nine matches. The dream run, however, was halted in the final against Australia at Ahmedabad, where they suffered a six-wicket defeat.
Assuming the role of an aggressive opener, Rohit Sharma contributed impactful and aggressive performances, ensuring dynamic starts for Team India in every match of the World Cup 2023. He concluded the tournament as its second-highest run-scorer.

“I had no idea how to come back from this. The first few days, my family, my friends kept me going, kept things pretty light around me, which was quite helpful. It was not easy to digest, but life moves on. You have to move on in life. But honestly it was tough, it was not easy to move on.”
“I have always grown up watching the 50 overs World Cup, so to me that was the ultimate prize. We have worked all these years for that World Cup and it is disappointing right? If you don’t get through it, don’t get what you want, what you have been looking for all this while, what you were dreaming of, you get disappointed. You get frustrated as well at times.”
‘We Did Everything We Could From Our Side’ – Rohit Sharma on India’s World Cup Performance
Rohit Sharma scored 597 runs from 11 matches at a staggering strike rate of 125.95 and an average of 54.27. On how it feels to lose the home World Cup, the 35-year-old added:
“I thought we did everything we could from our side. If someone will ask me what went wrong? Because we won 10 games and in those 10 games, yes, we made mistakes but those mistakes happen in every game you play, you cannot have a perfect game.”
