[Watch] Wiaan Mulder Throws Ball at Babar Azam in Frustration in SA vs PAK

Babar Azam also reacted aggressively in response.

The Pakistan cricket team is currently touring South Africa for a two-match Test series. South Africa secured a convincing win in the first Test, ensuring their place in the World Test Championship final. Now, the teams are battling it out in the second Test at Cape Town, where South Africa is looking for a clean sweep.

In the ongoing second Test, South Africa dominated Pakistan by scoring a massive 615 runs in their first innings. Ryan Rickelton played a brilliant double-century knock, supported by captain Temba Bavuma’s century. South Africa then enforced the follow-on after bowling out Pakistan for just 194 runs in their first innings.

Heated Exchange Between Babar and Mulder

During Pakistan’s second innings, their former captain Babar Azam scored yet another half-century, showing resistance after his earlier knock in the first innings. However, a tense moment occurred during the 32nd over of the innings.

On the fourth ball, Babar played a firm drive straight back to South African pacer Wiaan Mulder, who collected the ball in his follow-through. In frustration, Mulder threw the ball back towards Babar, who was slightly out of the crease. The throw was nowhere near the stumps and seemed to be aimed directly at the batter.

This led to a heated exchange between the two players. Babar, visibly unhappy, stepped forward to confront Mulder. The situation escalated briefly as the South African wicketkeeper attempted a cheeky run-out while Babar was outside his crease. Umpires intervened to calm the players down, while teammates Aiden Markram and Shan Masood had to step in to ease tensions.

At the time of writing, Pakistan is fighting back in their second innings, reaching 152 for no loss. Their openers have shown resilience after being bundled out for a low score earlier in the match. However, with South Africa in control, Pakistan will need a big effort to save the Test.
