Why Islamabad United’s Alex Carey Is Not Playing PSL 2025?
Australia’s Alex Carey has pulled out of PSL 2025 due to domestic cricket commitments.
Australia’s wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey has pulled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, just ahead of Islamabad United’s opening game against Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi.
Carey was picked by Islamabad United as a replacement for South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen, who was only available for part of the tournament. However, as per reports in the Express Tribune, Carey will not be available due to domestic cricket commitments in Australia, which clash with the PSL schedule.
This has left Islamabad United with a small concern regarding their overseas lineup. With Alex Carey out, the team will now hope that van der Dussen can return soon and fill the gap left behind.
Earlier, Kane Williamson was also ruled out of the early part of PSL 2025. He was set to play for Karachi Kings after going unsold in the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
Islamabad United, two-time PSL champions, will kick off their campaign today against Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
