Women’s T20 Challenge 2020 – TRL vs SPN Highlights & Analysis: Supernovas Defeated Trailblazers by 2 Runs, Velocity Eliminated From The Tournament

TRL vs SPN: In the third match of the Women’s T20 Challenge 2020, Harmanpreet Kaur’s Supernovas defeated Smriti Mandhana’s Trailblazers by 2 runs. With the victory, Supernovas secured their place in the finals where they will compete with the Trailblazers on 9 November. At the same time, Mithali Raj’s Velocity was eliminated from the tournament.

In Sharjah, Supernovas won the toss and gave a target of 147 runs while batting first. In response, Trailblazers were able to score 144 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Chamari Athapaththu made a fantastic fifty while batting brilliantly. She scored 67 runs off 48 deliveries. Harmanpreet Kaur scored 31 runs. Jhulan Goswami, Salma Khatun and Harleen Deol got one wicket each for the Trailblazers.

Supernovas Scored 50 Runs in The Power-Play

Supernovas openers Priya Punia and Chamari Athapaththu deliver a much needed brilliant start to the team. Both did not let the Trailblazers bowlers dominate and added 50 runs for the team in the power-play.

There is an 89-run partnership for the first wicket between Priya and Chamari Athapaththu. This partnership was broken by Salma Khatun. Salma dismissed Priya and her catch was taken by Deepti Sharma. Priya scored 30 runs off 37 deliveries with the help of 3 fours.

Jemimah Rodrigues Departs Early

Jemimah was dismissed early for the second consecutive match. Jemimah could only score one run and Jhulan Goswami dismissed him. Jemima had managed to score just 7 runs against Velocity in the last match. At the same time, Shashikala was run out by scoring 2 runs.
