Mumbai Indians Women defeated Gujarat Giants Women by 9 runs in the 19th match of the WPL 2025.

Mumbai Indians continued their dominance over Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League, securing a thrilling nine-run victory in Mumbai.
Batting first, MI posted a strong total of 179/6 in 20 overs, with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur leading the charge. She scored a brilliant 54 off 33 balls, supported by Nat Sciver-Brunt’s 38 and a late flourish from Amanjot Kaur, who struck 27 off 15 balls.
Gujarat’s bowlers struggled to contain the run flow, with Ashleigh Gardner, Tanuja Kanwar, and Priya Mishra picking up a wicket each.
Chasing 180, Gujarat Giants had a shaky start, losing wickets at regular intervals. Bharti Fulmali played a sensational knock, smashing 61 off just 25 balls, keeping Gujarat in the hunt. Harleen Deol contributed 24, but none of the other batters could provide substantial support.
Mumbai’s bowlers kept the pressure on, with Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr taking three wickets each, while Shabnim Ismail bowled a brilliant spell, finishing with 2/17 in her four overs.
Despite Fulmali’s late heroics, Gujarat fell short by nine runs, getting bowled out for 170 on the final delivery of the innings.
Matthews was the standout performer with both bat and ball, scoring 27 runs and taking three crucial wickets. Mumbai’s disciplined bowling attack, coupled with sharp fielding efforts, ensured that Gujarat couldn’t cross the finish line.
With this win, Mumbai Indians maintain their unbeaten record against Gujarat Giants in WPL history. Their all-round performance once again proved why they are among the strongest teams in the tournament.
On the other hand, Gujarat will need to regroup and address their middle-order concerns to bounce back in the competition.
