WPL 2025 Retentions: RCB Women Retained, Released Players List, and Purse Remaining
Here’s the retained, released players list by RCB Women.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women’s team has taken a cautious approach heading into the WPL 2025 mini-auction. After a strong title-winning season in the 2024 Women’s Premier League, RCB has decided to maintain the core of their squad, with only a few changes.
The defending champions have stayed loyal to their key players and have only made selective releases to adjust their squad for the upcoming season.
RCB’s retention strategy is clear—they have kept the players who helped them lift the title. Key players such as captain Smriti Mandhana, wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, and fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur are all retained. Along with them, international stars like Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, and Sophie Molineux will also stay with the team. This retention ensures that RCB’s squad remains balanced and continues with a mix of experience and young talent.
However, there have been a few releases. RCB needed to make space for the upcoming auction, especially after the trade of Danni Wyatt-Hodge. The team had eight overseas players, but the limit is six, so the team decided to release England’s Heather Knight and South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk. In total, RCB has released seven players, including five domestic talents. This move helps them focus on bringing in fresh Indian talent during the auction.
With the auction just around the corner, RCB now has four spots left to fill, but they still have INR 3.25 crore in their purse. Since their overseas slots are already filled, RCB will target Indian players to strengthen their squad further.
