WPL 2025: Why Marizanne Kapp Is Not Playing Today’s MI vs DC Match
Marizanne Kapp was unwell and hence she was not available for the opening match of Delhi Capitals Women.

South African fast bowler Marizanne Kapp is not playing for Delhi Capitals in their first match of WPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians. The match is being played in Vadodara.
Kapp and Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen are unwell. Because of this, they are not in Delhi Capitals’ playing XI. Both players are important for the team and usually play in every match.
Delhi Capitals Chose to Bowl First
Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning won the toss and decided to bowl first against Mumbai Indians. She made this decision because, in the first match of the tournament, Royal Challengers Bengaluru successfully chased a big target. Also, dew might make bowling difficult in the second innings.
Mumbai Indians batted first and got all out for 164 runs in 19.1 overs. Natalie Sciver-Brunt played a great innings, scoring 80 not out. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also played well, scoring 42 runs.
Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are two of the best teams in WPL. Delhi Capitals finished at the top of the points table in both previous seasons but lost in the final both times. Captain Lanning said they want to follow the same strategy that has worked for them in the past.
