Punjab Kings' Tweet backfired them after they lost to Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets.
The 29th match of the Indian Premier League 2021 was played between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad in which the former emerged victorious by 7 wickets.
Having won the toss, Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals skipper, elected to bowl first. Punjab was handed a massive blow as their skipper, KL Rahul was diagnosed with acute appendicitis ahead of the game and will now have to undergo surgery.
Mayank Agarwal took over the captaincy responsibilities in Rahul’s absence and he led from the front by being unbeaten on 99 runs at the end of the first innings, carrying Punjab to a total of 166 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs.
Talking about Delhi’s chase, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw have been giving the team some fine starts in the ongoing season and it was no different on Sunday. The duo added 63 runs in 36 balls to give the Capitals a strong start. Both the openers went after Punjab Kings’s new-ball bowlers, especially Mohammed Shami who had an ordinary night.
Shikhar Dhawan remained unbeaten, hitting 69 in just 47 balls while Prithvi Shaw did all the damage in the powerplay with a 22-ball 39, hitting 3 sixes and as many boundaries. Notably, Punjab Kings have won their previous match against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 34 runs. After the game, the Punjab Kings’ entire team was extremely elated as they desperately needed a win in that match to remain in contention of a top-four finish in IPL 2021.
Like the team, their social media team was also ecstatic over the win and they tried to take a dig at RCB. After the game, the PBKS Twitter handle shared a picture of the Royal Challengers Bangalore dugout with their sad faces.
They took to Twitter and wrote, “Yahan pe sab shanti shanti hai” This means, “Everything is so quiet here”
However, the RCB admins were quick to respond and show their witty side as they replied, “Because we neither go overboard when we win nor over analyze a loss.” Alongside, they also shared a picture of the IPL 2021 points table, clearly indicating that they are ahead of Punjab even after the loss last night.
However, later after facing massive humiliation from RCB fans, PBKS deleted that tweet. However, fans were fast enough as they already took the screenshot to troll them later or earlier. Unfortunately, that day was Sunday when Punjab lost their match against Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets.
