Zaman Khan, Abrar Ahmed Chooses MLC 2024 Over Lanka Premier League

Zaman Khan and Abrar Ahmed withdrew from LPL 2024 to play MLC 2024.

The Lanka Premier League (LPL) player auction for the 2024 season saw a flurry of Pakistani signings, with players like Shadab Khan, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Iftikhar Ahmed, and Haider Ali finding new teams. However, two notable Pakistan players, Zaman Khan and Abrar Ahmed, opted out of the tournament after registering initially.

Pakistan Acquisitions Dominate LPL Auction

The Colombo Strikers secured the services of explosive all-rounder Shadab Khan through a pre-auction signing. They further bolstered their squad by picking up young paceman Mohammad Wasim Jr. for $20,000 during the auction.

The Dambulla Thunders also went for Pakistan talent, signing experienced middle-order batter Iftikhar Ahmed for $50,000 and rising star Haider Ali for $25,000.

B-Love Kandy, on the other hand, retained the promising wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris.

They also acquired Azam Khan and Mohammad Hasnain for $50,000 and $30,000 respectively. Their Pakistani contingent grew further with the additions of Agha Salman and Mohammad Ali, each bought for $10,000.

Zaman Khan and Abrar Ahmed Choose MLC over LPL

While several Pakistan players found homes in the LPL, Zaman Khan and Abrar Ahmed decided to withdraw their registrations. The reason for their withdrawal is their participation in the upcoming Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 season in the United States. The specific teams they will be playing for in the MLC haven’t been revealed yet.

The LPL’s fifth edition is scheduled for a shorter window this year, running from July 1 to 21.
