IPL 2024: Virat Kohli Takes a Dig at Indian Selectors After Playing Match-Winning Knock Against Punjab Kings
Virat Kohli took a dig at the Indian selectors after slamming a half-century against Punjab Kings.
Powered by Virat Kohli’s exceptional innings, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by four wickets, kickstarting their winning streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
Batting first, Punjab Kings posted 176 runs on the board. In reply, Virat Kohli provided a great start for the team, scoring 77 runs from 49 balls. Later, Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror ensured that RCB crossed the finish line.
By notching up this sensational half-century, Virat Kohli has silenced any doubts about his place in the lineup for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. He even took a direct jab at his critics during the post-match conference.
While Virat Kohli hasn’t named names, fans are reading between the lines, thinking he’s aiming at the Indian selectors who have doubts about him for T20 World Cup 2024.
Here’s what Virat Kohli said:
“I know my name is now attached to just promoting the game in different parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket. I’ve still got it I guess.”
Furthermore, Virat Kohli also talked about how he was disappointed for not being able to finish the game for Royal Challengers Bengaluru:
“Wasn’t the usual flat pitch. Disappointed I couldn’t finish the game. Was in the slot but sliced it to deep point. They know I play the cover drive well, so they’re not going to allow me to hit gaps. You have to come up with a game plan here and there.”
Earlier, there were reports that the Indian management and selectors have been closely monitoring Virat Kohli’s form in the IPL 2024 with RCB to consider selecting him for the Indian squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
