IPL 2021, Match 9, MI vs SRH: Mumbai Indians survived in another low-scoring match as they defended their 150-run total in the 9th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. Mumbai Indians managed 150/5 in 20 overs as Kieron Pollard (35*) got some crucial runs at the death. In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s middle batting order once again collapsed, which saw them getting all out for 137 runs.

Chasing 151, SunRisers Hyderabad got off to a great start as David Warner, and Jonny Bairstow smashed the ball all around the park in the early overs. The duo stitched a 67-run partnership for the opening wicket and looked strong to cruise through, but Bairstow got hit-wicket and was dismissed for 43.
Mumbai Indians were electric on the field as Hardik Pandya got the big wicket of Warner (34-ball 36) with a direct hit.

SunRisers Hyderabad needed just 30 runs in the last 5 overs but they managed just 17 runs in the last 28 balls, all thanks to Boult and Bumrah’s destructive bowling.
Earlier, Quinton de Kock and Kieron Pollard played responsible knocks to take Mumbai to a respectable total. The defending champions had a good start as the pair of De Kock, and Rohit Sharma added 55 runs for the opening wicket before Hyderabad all-rounder Vijay Shankar provided back-to-back breakthroughs.
Shankar first removed Rohit on 32 runs and then dismissed Suryakumar Yadav for a mere 10-run score. Soon, Mujeeb Ur Rahman joined the party and dismissed De Kock for a well made 40 from 39 balls. In his next over, Mujeeb sent back Ishan Kishan for 12 runs.
As the SunRisers Hyderabad were looking to dominate, Pollard came to rescue Mumbai Indians. The West Indian smashed an unbeaten 35 off 22 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 159, with the help of one four and three sixes. Pollard’s scintillating effort guided Mumbai Indians to 150/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Rohit, the most successful captain in the history of the IPL has now become the Indian player with the most number of sixes in IPL history. He beat Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni to achieve this feat. While MS Dhoni has 216 sixes in IPL, Rohit Sharma now has 217 sixes to his name. Virat Kohli is third on the list with 201 sixes. While Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa are fourth and fifth in the tally with 198 and 163 sixes respectively.

3. Kieron Pollard Becomes 6th Batsman With 200-Plus Sixes in IPL
Kieron Pollard hit a 21-ball 35* in Saturday’s fixture. The West Indian hit one four and three sixes. Pollard now has gone past 200 sixes in the IPL (201). He became the sixth batsman to achieve this mark. Pollard also equalled the tally of Virat Kohli in terms of sixes (201).
4. Kieron Pollard 3rd Fastest Player To Smash 200 IPL Sixes
The West Indian is the 3rd fastest in terms of innings to smash 200 IPL sixes. Chris Gayle reached this milestone in 68 innings, AB De Villiers 137 innings and now Pollard in 150 innings.
