NZ vs SA: Quinton de Kock Makes History as First South African to Score 500 Runs in a World Cup Edition

Quinton de Kock scored 114 runs from 116 balls against New Zealand.

South Africa’s star opener Quinton de Kock, who has been in exceptional form since the beginning of the 2023 World Cup, continued his outstanding performance by scoring his fourth century of the tournament. He has now become the first South African player to score 500 runs in a single World Cup edition.

Quinton de Kock played an outstanding innings, scoring 114 runs from 116 balls against New Zealand on Wednesday, November 1 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. De Kock’s century was punctuated by 10 boundaries and three towering sixes.

In addition to this, Quinton de Kock also put on a 200-run partnership with Rassie van der Dussen, with de Kock contributing 102 runs and van der Dussen adding 91 runs to the total. De Kock was ultimately dismissed by New Zealand pace spearhead Trent Boult on the final ball of the 40th over.
