Supernovas spinner Radha Yadav has created history in the Women’s T20 Challenge as she became the first bowler in Women’s T20 Challenge to take a five-wicket haul in a single match. In Twenty20 Internationals, only two women bowlers, Jhulan Goswami and Priyanka Roy have taken a five-wicket haul.
Radha Yadav bowled brilliantly in the final contest of Women’s T20 Challenge on Monday and conceded only 16 runs for 5 wickets in her 4 overs quota.
The left-arm spinner restricted the Trailblazer to the score of 118. Thanks to her bowling, the Trailblazers team, seen going beyond 150 at a time, could only score 118 runs for 8 wickets.
Radha Yadav dismissed Deepti Sharma (9 off 10) on the second of the 18th over. Two balls later, Radha Yadav dismissed Richa Ghosh for a two-ball duck. In the 20th over, there was carnage as Radha Yadav got the big wickets of Sophie Ecclestone (1 off 2), Harleen Deol (4 off 8) and Jhulan Goswami (1 off 3). Although she missed a hat-trick, the team managed to achieve the feat as Nattakam Chantam was run-out for a duck.
Speaking about her five-wicket haul, Radha told Star Sports during the mid-innings break, that she likes ‘pressure situations’ and taking wickets. She further emphasised on keeping things simple on the field.
“I like such situations, when there’s pressure, I really enjoy bowling and taking wickets. I actually don’t think too much and try to keep it simple and pitch it in the right areas. I mainly aim to cut down the boundaries.
“I think we pulled things back nicely given the way they started and we did well to contain them in the last few overs. I feel we should be able to chase this down,” said Yadav.
