In a thrilling face-off between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Visakhapatnam during the IPL 2024 season, Sunil Narine once again proved his mettle at the top of the order, setting the stage ablaze with his magnificent batting display.
The match kicked off with Khaleel Ahmed delivering an economical first over, leaving no room for extras and putting pressure on Narine and his partner Phil Salt. However, the Englishman found his rhythm in the second over, unleashing consecutive boundaries off Ishant Sharma’s bowling.
Narine, not one to be left behind, started off his boundary spree in the third over, matching Salt’s aggression with his own explosive strokeplay. Facing off against Ishant Sharma in the fourth over, Narine firstly found it difficult with a couple of dot balls.
However, later, he unleashed a barrage of boundaries against the tall DC pacer, accumulating a staggering 26 runs in a single over.
The West Indian all-rounder’s onslaught continued, as he showcased his power-hitting prowess with towering sixes and well-timed boundaries.
The West Indies all-rounder kicked off with a towering six over mid-off, followed by another maximum off a short delivery. He continued his onslaught with a four, ending the over with another six and a boundary.

Later, it was Anrich Nortje, who provided Delhi Capitals with a crucial breakthrough by removing Phil Salt for 18 in the fifth over.
However, it failed to stem the tide as Narine persisted with his assault. In the last over of the powerplay, he smashed a six and three boundaries to reach his fifty off just 21 deliveries.
Narine finished with 85 runs from 49 balls with the help of seven boundaries and as many sixes. Mitchell Marsh got rid of him on the third delivery of the 13th over.
