Ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2024 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), a delightful moment of camaraderie emerged between the two teams’ captains. It all happened during a practice session at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Pat Cummins, the captain of SRH, had just finished his batting practice when he crossed paths with Virat Kohli, the RCB captain, who was taking a break after his session. The interaction, captured and shared by RCB on their official social media handle, showcased a friendly exchange between the two cricketing greats.
Cummins, with a touch of humour, mentioned how his coach remarked on him making the wicket look easy for batters. “The coach was saying I was making that wicket look flat. That’s all I heard,” he said with a laugh. Kohli, clearly impressed by Cummins’ batting skills, responded with a compliment, “You are too good, Pat.”
While RCB is languishing at the bottom of the table with just one win in eight matches, SRH, captained by Cummins, is thriving in third place, having won five out of seven matches.
Both teams will meet for the second time this season. In their previous encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, SRH set the highest-ever IPL total of 287/3. Although the home team nearly chased down the target, falling short by 25 runs, they ended up losing the match.
