Digvesh Rathi pulled off a unique celebration after dismissing his Delhi teammate Priyansh Arya in the IPL 2025 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium. His reaction reminded fans of Virat Kohli’s famous ‘notebook celebration.’
Lucknow Super Giants were defending 171 runs and needed an early breakthrough. Punjab Kings had started well, scoring 20 runs in just two overs. That’s when LSG captain Rishabh Pant brought Digvesh Rathi into the attack. The move worked instantly.
On the first ball of his over, Priyansh Arya hit Rathi for a four. The next ball nearly got him out, but Mitchell Marsh dropped the catch at slip. However, Rathi didn’t have to wait long. On the fifth ball of the over, he bowled a short delivery outside off stump. Arya went for a big pull shot but only managed a top edge. Shardul Thakur took an easy catch at mid-on.
The Notebook Celebration Goes Viral
As Priyansh Arya walked back to the pavilion, Digvesh Rathi celebrated in a special way. He ran towards him and performed the ‘notebook celebration.’ In this gesture, a bowler pretends to write the batter’s name on his palm before checking it off the list.
This celebration was first made famous by West Indies all-rounder Kesrick Williams. Later, during a T20I match in 2019, Virat Kohli used the same celebration against Williams after hitting him for multiple boundaries.

While Rathi and his teammates were celebrating, the camera showed LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka in the stands. He looked excited after the important wicket.
This early breakthrough gave Lucknow Super Giants a strong start as they looked to defend their total against Punjab Kings.
