Pakistan hosted an ICC event after 29 years as they faced New Zealand in the opening match of the Champions Trophy 2025 at the National Stadium, Karachi. Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to bowl first on Wednesday, February 19.

Before the match started, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) put on an air show to celebrate the tournament’s return to Pakistan. The air show was part of the opening ceremony, which took place over several days in different stadiums.
