[Watch] 4 4 4 – Adil Rashid Destroyed Mohammed Shami in Death Overs During IND vs ENG 2nd ODI

Adil Rashid hits Mohammed Shami for three consecutive boundaries.

India’s experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami had a tough day with the ball in the second ODI against England at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. The right-arm pacer, who started the series well, struggled in this match as England batters took him apart in the death overs.

Shami, who was expected to finish strong, had a forgettable 48th over when England’s lower-order batter Adil Rashid smashed him for three consecutive boundaries.

The fourth ball of the over saw Rashid drive a length delivery over mid-off for a one-bounce four. On the next delivery, he played a similar shot, lofting the ball over mid-on for another boundary. To finish the over, Rashid backed away and cut a slower short ball through the covers for his third four in a row.

Shami ended his spell with figures of 7.5 overs, 66 runs, and one wicket. He managed to dismiss Gus Atkinson but was expensive, conceding runs at an economy of over eight. His struggles at the death allowed England to post a competitive total of 304 runs.

India’s best bowler of the day was Ravindra Jadeja, who picked up three wickets for just 35 runs in his full quota of 10 overs. Axar Patel was also economical, while the rest of the Indian bowlers managed to take wickets but leaked runs.
