Australia suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Team India on Friday, September 20th, in the first ODI of the three-game series, hosted at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

It was captain KL Rahul who provided the fireworks in the run-chase, launching a spectacular six over long off against Sean Abbott, a moment that instantly brought back memories of MS Dhoni’s historic World Cup-winning six in 2011.

As far as the match is concerned, Team India bowled out Australia for 276 runs after putting them to bat first. In reply, India rode on the half-centuries delivered by Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Captain KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav to chase down the target in 48.5 overs.

India, currently in the lead with a 1-0 score in the three-match series, will face off against Australia in the second ODI on Sunday, September 24, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
